Moving Forward
This time last year, at the start of Ramadan, I decided to embark on a journey toward better health.
Social media often shows the highlight reel of life, not the full picture. What we share rarely reflects the struggles, setbacks, or quiet moments of self-reflection that shape who we are.
Post-Covid, the emotional impact of two years of turmoil and an upside-down world had left its mark. Doctors told me that some of the health issues I was experiencing could improve—if only I lost weight and took better care of myself. I hardly recognized myself in photos, and seeing myself not as I thought I looked, but as I actually was, had an invisible emotional weight that was hard to shake.
I won’t say it’s been easy, but I stayed focused, stuck to the plan, removed bad habits, and now, a year later, I feel so much better—physically, but more importantly, mentally.
Today, I enjoyed a bike ride around the neighborhood while deep in discussion with my AI. The world is changing fast, and I want to be here to see what’s coming, to be a great father to my kids, and to help my students prepare for the future.
I saw the importance of putting myself first—not as an act of selfishness, but so I can be a better version of myself for those around me.
And so, the journey continues...
