MADAR TOLERANCE WORKSHOPS
I recently participated in the Tolerance Clubs Orientation Gathering, which marked the launch of the Madar Tolerance Workshops by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in the UAE. Held at Zayed University's Innovation Centre, the event brought together students, faculty, and experts to explore how creativity and innovation can deepen our understanding of tolerance in its many forms.
During the event, I presented a session titled "Lens of Tolerance: The Power of Mobile Filmmaking," where we discussed how mobile filmmaking can be a powerful tool for storytelling, connecting it to values of tolerance and coexistence. It was exciting to engage with participants and hear their ideas on using creativity to foster inclusion and respect.
My colleagues also delivered fascinating sessions that added diverse perspectives to the discussion. Prof. Carlos Montaña PhD from Rochester Institute of Technology, Dubai (RIT Dubai) spoke about Biomimicry, Aerospace & Tolerance, focusing on how sustainability and respect for life on Earth can shape our future in space exploration. Hamdan Al-Ali, a game developer and PhD candidate at MBZUAI (Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence), explored Game Development for Tolerance, sharing insights into how games can inspire empathy and understanding.
A big thank you to Zahra Khalifa from the Ministry of Tolerance for her support and to everyone who contributed to making this event such a meaningful experience. The students and faculty who participated brought so much energy and creativity to the discussions—it’s inspiring to see how these workshops are fostering a culture of inclusion and innovation.
